Circle City Cycles Offer Feedback

It's always nice when a company steps forward and agrees to become a sponsor to the Bicycle Touring 101 web site since these offers are focused on the people who have helped to build the web site. Based on feedback that I have been receiving their help has gone a long ways towards creating a web site that has lots of bicycle touring information while also preserving the whole sense of what bicycle touring is all about.

Whenever an offer is available I like to follow-up with the contributors who have taken advantage of it to see if things have worked out well for them. The Circle City Cycles offer is relatively new and it appeared on the site right after Christmas during the traditional "no money" time of year so only recently have contributors begun to take advantage of the offer.

Nancy Bradbury is preparing for a bicycle tour later this year and she used the offer to pick up some new Arkel panniers. Here's her feedback from the experience:

"Jamie-

Just wanted to send off a very favorable report on my experience with Roy at Circle City Bicycles. After you made the original contact, I e-mailed Roy to check on how he wanted me to proceed. He responded quickly and asked me to give him a call. I was originally considering the Arkel GT-30's that were on sale because they were older models. But since these did not qualify for the BT101 discount, I ended up with brand new GT-30's, plus rain covers, all for a great price.

Service was very quick; I placed my order on Monday and it arrived on Friday. Plus NO shipping charges! I will definitely consider Circle City when I make future cycling purchases.

Thanks!

Now it's time to pedal off...."

Joy Santee has just completed her first bicycle touring adventure. She had the following comments about her experience with Circle City Cycles:

"I live fairly close to Indianapolis, so I stopped by the Circle City shop to look at the Arkel panniers I wanted first-hand. They were very patient as I stood there for an hour deciding to buy what I already knew I was going to buy when I walked in the store. I came out with the 2004 model GT-54s, rain covers, and a Tubus rack for a great price because of the discount offer.

Circle City is looking to expand their stock to meet the needs of touring cyclists, and I appreciated having so many experienced touring folks to ask questions of. Their mechanic was extremely informative and helpful when I was deciding between the 2004 models and rain covers or the 2005s with the integrated dry bag. He told a story of riding through Amish country on a wet day that convinced me to go with the rain covers (hey, yellow matches yellow after all).

I did one solo overnight with the bags and then went on a group camping trip with Ed Pope, part owner of Circle City (a trip that included bicycletouring101 Zero Cost Cookset contributor Fritz Krueger and his daughter). He and his staff can be valuable resources for anyone looking for answers about touring equipment, and while their website isn’t the prettiest, I found their service to be wonderful. The told me they were very willing to find any gear I wanted whether it was on the website or not, so if you’re looking for something particular, shoot them an email. They even have recumbent-specific jerseys for you ‘bent riders!"

Hopefully more feedback will appear on this page as other Bicycle Touring 101 contributors take advantage of their offer.
