I have created a RSS feed for the Bicycle Touring 101 website. RSS has a number of meanings including Rich Site Summary. Essentially what it does is allow a site to publish information summaries that can be read using a piece of software called a RSS Reader or the same summary information can be published on other web sites that read the feed.
I am interested in RSS because it sounds like a mechanism that will make it easier for people to be updated about new articles as they appear on the site. Currently the only way for someone to do this is to look at the Bicycle Touring 101 homepage or visit the What's New page. With an RSS reader you can monitor the Bicycle Touring 101 New Article channel and be provided with brief article summaries as the articles are published.
If you haven't tried RSS readers before you can easily try a web based one just to see what it's like. Here's a link to one that I've been using.
If you would like to try a stand-alone RSS Client I've also been giving FeedDemon 1.5 a try. You can download a trial version at http://www.bradsoft.com/feeddemon/index.asp. Once you've installed the trial version you can easily add the BT101 channel by selecting new channel and providing the auto-discovery URL of http://www.bicycletouring101.com. Any RSS Client that understands RSS autodiscovery should be able to find the channel this way.
If you find that your preferred RSS service doesn't carry the feed here are the details in case you wanted to request it.
